The comedy film “Barshama” (The Cheat Sheet) delivered a powerhouse performance at the box office on Saturday, the second day of Eid al-Fitr, securing the top spot with 19 million Egyptian pounds in daily revenue and 147,500 tickets sold.

Box office revenues 

Within just 73 hours of its release, the film’s total earnings jumped to LE 33,845,000, supported by a total of 255,500 admissions. The film, which carries a +12 age rating, has quickly emerged as the season’s primary commercial hit.

Star-studded cast and production

The ensemble comedy features Hesham Maged, Reham Abdel Ghafour, Bassem Samra, Mostafa Gharib, and Hatem Salah. The film also stars Arefa Abdel Rasoul, Faten Said, Kamal Abu Raya, Michelle Milad, and Fadwa Abed. Written by Ahmed El-Zoghbi and Sherine Diab, the project was directed by Khaled Diab.

A satirical look at exam chaos

The plot unfolds during a high school Arabic language equivalency exam. When the proctor suddenly passes away mid-exam, the students attempt to hide his death to continue cheating. However, the plan unravels as no one actually knows the answers.

Through absurd schemes and escalating mayhem, the exam room transforms into a comedic disaster, satirizing the pressures and desperation surrounding the national education system.
