British Airways has confirmed it will increase flights to the Mother City as part of a broader expansion of its long-haul network for winter 2026.

The airline plans to introduce a third daily flight between London Heathrow and Cape Town, starting in December 2026.

That’s a notable increase in capacity on one of South Africa’s busiest international routes, and it comes at a time when flights to the Mother City have been under pressure due to high demand and limited availability.

More flights usually mean one thing: more options.

For travellers, this could lead to better availability on popular travel dates, greater flexibility when booking, and potential relief from price increases over time.

In recent months, flights between Cape Town and London have become more expensive and harder to secure, particularly on direct routes. Adding another daily service should help ease some of that pressure.

The additional Cape Town flights form part of a wider strategy by British Airways to grow its long-haul network by around nine percent.
