The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has directed the newly appointed state officials to commit themselves to improving governance and service delivery across the state.
He issued the directives during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed senior government officials to day in Juba, following recent presidential decrees relieving and appointing several officials in the Central Equatoria State.
Governor Adil urged Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Augustino Ladu Martin, to ensure that resolutions passed by the Council of Ministers are effectively implemented while promoting transparency and accountability in government operations.
He also instructed the Minister for Peace Building, Jacob Gore, to intensify dialogue initiatives at the local and community levels in order to promote peaceful coexistence among residents across the state.
Addressing economic priorities, Governor Adil directed the Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment, Janet Aya, to prioritize revenue generation and produce uniforms for tax collectors to strengthen accountability in the state’s revenue collection system.
The Governor further tasked the Minister of Health, Joice Bakuwa, with closing health service gaps left by non-governmental organizations and strengthening healthcare services throughout Central Equatoria State.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Bush Buse, was urged to revive and nurture cultural values that the Governor said are gradually being eroded in society.
Governor Adil also instructed the Minister of Trade and Industry, Mawa A. Moses, to revive cooperative systems for farmers as the state plans to establish markets that will enable farmers to sell their produce and boost the local economy.
On land management, the Governor directed the Minister of Housing, Land and Public Utilities, Viato Wani Swaka, to continue addressing the persistent crisis of land grabbing and to begin allocating plots to their rightful owners who have been waiting since 2011.
He said this step is essential for supporting sustainable urban development in towns such as Kaya, Yei, Kajo-Keji and Terekeka.
Governor Adil further emphasized the importance of proper handover procedures between outgoing and incoming officials and encouraged leaders to promote constructive dialogue for peaceful political engagement among the people.
He also called on the newly appointed officials to focus their work on four key priorities: ensuring security and peace, maintaining Juba as a green, clean and safe city, reviving the state’s economy through agriculture, and improving service delivery to the citizens of Central Equatoria State.
