Iran Raises Minimum Wage by Over 60%…

Iranian authorities have announced an increase in the minimum wage by more than 60%, according to local media reports. This annual adjustment follows months of anti-government protests that initially erupted due to economic and living conditions.اضافة اعلان

Iran revises its minimum wage annually in response to inflation, which has reached record levels under international sanctions in the months preceding the conflict with the United States and Israel, as reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The semi-official Tasnim News Agency quoted the Minister of Labor stating that, “with government approval,” the monthly minimum wage will rise from 103 million rials to 166 million in the upcoming Persian year, which begins in a few days according to the Solar Hijri calendar.

Based on black market exchange rates, the new minimum wage is equivalent to approximately $112 per month.

Protests broke out in Iran in late December over dire living conditions, quickly evolving into a movement chanting slogans against the leadership of the Republic. The subsequent crackdown by authorities on these protests resulted in the deaths of thousands.
