reported that Peru’s metallic mining output posted positive results across several metals by the end of 2025. This was driven by favorable external conditions and higher international prices that allowed for sustaining investment plans at various mining units.

In the case of copper, national output reached 256,647 fine metric tons (FMT) in December 2025, an 18.6% month-on-month increase from November of the same year.

Likewise, cumulative copper production reached 2,769,794 FMT between January and December 2025, a 1.2% rise from 2024.

Minem underscored that this result represents the highest annual volume recorded for this metal, consolidating 2025 as a record year for Peru’s copper mining sector after surpassing the figures reached in 2023 and 2024.

By regions, Moquegua led national copper output (17.2% share), followed by Arequipa (14.9%), Apurimac (14.8%), and Ancash (14.6%).

Regarding zinc, the government agency reported that production recorded an 8.0% month-on-month increase in December 2025, while cumulative output for the year rose 18.6% from 2024.

As for lead, cumulative production in 2025 was 7.2% higher than that reported in 2024, while tin recorded a 4.6% increase during the same period.

Lastly, Minem reported that cumulative silver production increased 7.1% in 2025 from the previous year, while gold recorded a slight contraction of 0.7%.
