Ministry of Water Resources instructs dam sites to raise the level of maximum readiness and preparedness

Tripoli – The Emergency and Rapid Response Team from the Ministry of Water Resources in the Government of National Unity conducted a visit today. They visited several dams in the Western Region. The purpose was to monitor the dams’ conditions. This ensures the stability of the water situation there.

The Ministry’s media office reported that the team issued instructions to dam sites. These instructions call for raising the level of readiness and maximum alert. At Wadi Al-Mijineen Dam, at 4 PM, stored water volume was 1,371,300 cubic meters. The flowing water volume reached 900,600 cubic meters. The water level increased by approximately 1.27 meters.

Readings at Wadi Ghan Dam at 5 PM showed stored water volume reached approximately 2,697,116 cubic meters. The flowing water volume was 537,291 cubic meters. The water level increased by about 1.50 meters.

The team inspected Wadi Zarat Dam. It was found to be dry with no flowing water at the time of the visit.

The field tour also included inspecting the tributaries of Wadi Al-Mijineen. These are in the upper catchment area. The Wadi Al-Hammām crossing and the Wadi Al-Hajal path after the Wadi Al-Mijineen Dam body were also checked. This was done to assess the hydrological conditions in the region.

According to data recorded during the visit, the current situation is stable. This stability holds unless climatic changes occur in the coming hours. Technical monitoring continues around the clock.

Engineer Salem Al-Sharif, Director of the Dams Department, confirmed the security situation is stable at dam sites. Electricity supply is stable at Wadi Al-Mijineen and Wadi Ghan dams. Generators are operational. Operating fuel is available at both dams.
