LARAMIE — Andrew Wingard has a new address.
After spending the first seven years of his NFL career roaming the Jacksonville secondary, the former Wyoming safety Wednesday agreed to a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals.
The contract is reportedly worth up to $4 million, per Yahoo Sports.
The 29-year-old was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2019, following a standout career in Laramie that saw the Colorado product tally 454 tackles — tied for the most in Mountain West history — and the second highest total in program history behind only Galand Thaxton (467).
Wingard also picked off 10 passes, including five during the 2017 campaign. He forced five fumbles during his college career and registered 25 tackles for loss to go along with four sacks.
Appearing in all 16 games as a rookie, Wingard became a stalwart on special teams and even earned the title of captain during the 2023 season. He started 44 games during his tenure in Jacksonville, finishing his career in Florida with 346 tackles and six picks, two of which came in 2020, both courtesy of future Hall of Famer Philip Rivers.

Wingard was in the starting lineup 16 times last fall and capped the year with 84 tackles (45 solo), the second most in his NFL career. He also hauled in an interception and scooped up a fumble, along with breaking up nine passes.
The upstart Jaguars, who claimed the AFC South crown, fell in the Wild Card round to the Buffalo Bills and Wingard’s former Wyoming teammate Josh Allen.
Wingard was one of a dozen Cowboys on an NFL roster at the culmination of last season, joining Carl Granderson (New Orleans), Logan Wilson (Dallas), Marcus Epps (Philadelphia), Treyton Welch (New Orleans), Chad Muma (New England), Tyler Hall (Seattle), Wyett Ekeler (Indianapolis), Frank Crum (Denver), Solomon Byrd (Houston), Isaiah Neyor (Green Bay) and Allen.

The rules are simple: What was the player’s impact while in Laramie? That means NFL stats, draft status or any other accolade earned outside of UW is irrelevant when it comes to this list.
This isn’t a one-man job. This task called for a panel of experts. Joining 7220’s Cody Tucker are Robert Gagliardi, Jared Newland, Ryan Thorburn, and Kevin McKinney.
We all compiled our own list of 50 and let computer averages do the work. Think BCS — only we hope this catalog is fairer.
