Suspect steals $20,000 worth of camera gear from Riverside business

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) — Thousands of dollars’ worth of camera equipment was stolen from a business in Riverside – and it was all caught on video.

The theft happened just after 12:20 a.m. Thursday at Ray Reynolds Financial Services on Adams Street.

The owner told Eyewitness News that about $20,000 worth of equipment was stolen.

The brazen break-in was caught on surveillance video and shows a masked thief throwing a large object that shatters the glass door.

Once inside, the crook moves quickly and tears down a security camera off the wall but other cameras in the office keep recording.

From another angle, the suspect can be seen walking into a backroom used to record professional videos and starts removing two high-end cameras from their tripods.

Owner Fay Reynolds said one camera belonged to an employee and the other was purchased just weeks ago.

Reynolds said only cameras were taken.

“It is sad to see that you work so hard to at least have something, build something and someone who just wants easy money just comes (and takes it) because they don’t have the drive to do something for themselves,” she said.

She’s hoping the video will help identify the thief.

Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities.
