TTAADC poll outcome will decide next CM, says Pradyot Kishore Debbarma

Agartala: Tipra Motha Party supremo and Chairman of the ADC Reforms Committee, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, on Wednesday asserted that the outcome of the Tripura ADC elections would decide who becomes the next Chief Minister of the state after the 2028 assembly elections.

According to Debbarma, BJP’s defeat in the TTAADC elections would ensure that an eligible leader from the Tipra community assumes the Chief Minister’s chair in 2028.

Speaking at an election rally organised at Killa, the constituency of TTAADC Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia, Debbarma said, “This election gives the electorate two options. At one end stands Chief Minister Manik Saha. On the other side, you have the king who is fighting for your rights. It is up to the voters which side you wish to support. But when the time comes to cast your vote, keep in mind the purpose for which you are voting.”

Stating that there exists a well-orchestrated plot to keep the Tiprasa poor, Debbarma said, “There is a plan according to which calculated steps are being taken to capture the entire TTAADC land. They will capture Killa, Bishramganja, Kanchanpur, and all other places to convert them into Nagar Panchayats. This is not politics; this is a plan to keep Tiprasa poor.”

Pointing out discrimination against children of tribal communities, Debbarma claimed that students from other communities receive laptops and other smart gadgets, while children from tribal households are given piglets, goats, and similar items.

“The children of Ministers and MLAs are getting first-class education in English medium schools, while our children are denied English education. The VC elections were intentionally deferred to stop the flow of funds, and that money could have been used for the development of general areas. We have to beg for funds,” he alleged.

Hitting out at the state government, Debbarma described such practices as a gross violation of the slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.

He advised voters to ask for money when BJP leaders visit during election campaigns. “So far as I know, elections are going to be announced within the next five days. The BJP will pump in a lot of money to win. Don’t hesitate to accept it. If they don’t wish to give, ask for it. They will not spend from their own pockets. But at the time of casting your vote, apply your mind and vote for the party you genuinely support. Choose the party that cares for you,” he said, accusing BJP leaders of being mere poll-time guests.

Exuding confidence, Debbarma asserted that the BJP would definitely be defeated in the TTAADC polls. “The BJP will be defeated in 2026, and in 2028 we shall capture Agartala. We will ensure that a face from the Tiprasa community assumes the Chief Minister’s chair, and the day it happens, the future of our younger generation and subsequent generations shall change permanently,” he claimed.
