Voters approve Mascoma School District’s $32.97M budget

CANAAN — Voters in the Mascoma School District approved everything on Tuesday’s ballot including open enrollment, a new contract with district teachers and the proposed school budget.

Lara Annett, Brewster Gove and Scott Sanborn secured uncontested seats on the school board and Taylor Annett, Andrew Cushing and Louis Shelzi joined the budget committee.

Voters approved the open enrollment proposal to allow up to 1% of the student population, or no more than 10 students, from outside of the district to attend Mascoma schools and 0% of students within Mascoma School District towns to attend schools outside the district 1,132-645.

Voters also approved a $32.97 million budget 1,305-502, and a three-year contract with the district’s teachers that will add $353,000 to expenses in the first year 1,095-720.

A petitioned article to change the school district mission statement to “At mascoma valley regional school district we aspire to have 67% proficiency in reading and writing” passed 1,450-328.
