A 68-year-old bicyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a car on Kapiolani Boulevard in McCully this morning, according to Honolulu police.
At about 11:45 a.m. today, police said a 36-year-old motorist heading westbound on Kapiolani struck the bicyclist who traveled into his path from the sidewalk area.
The driver remained at the scene, and was not injured.
Honolulu Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene of the crash at Kapiolani and Hauoli Street, and provided the bicyclist with advanced life support.
EMS said the man suffered “life-threatening injuries,” and rushed him to an emergency room in critical condition.
Police said speed, drugs, and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors to this collision at this time.
