Robert Abela Speaks About Escalations In The Middle East

Prime Minister Robert Abela reflected on the current global situation during a political event organised by the Labour Party for International Women’s Day.

“Malta, as the smallest member state of the European Union, continues to be vigilant for all that is happening around it, continues to give stability and security to its people and the local businesses,” said Abela.

He went on to say that the reasons why this is possible is because of Malta’s strong economy and finances. He said that Malta’s finances allow for some headspace to continue helping the people as they face challenges, especially with regards to fuel and electricity prices.

Abela went on to compare Malta’s situation with that of other countries which might not be as better off as Malta in the context of fuel and electricity prices.

He also touched upon the fact that Malta does not have another country’s military presence and how it helped in maintaining Malta’s neutrality, as opposed to other countries which have a foreign base.

The Prime Minister said it would have been “a catastrophe” if we had to let business, affected by global events, take its course.
