The Assam men’s cricket team is set to travel to Namibia this month for a five-match one-day series against the Namibian national team, marking a rare overseas assignment for a domestic Indian side.

The team completed a six-day training camp at the ACA Stadium in Barsapara, Guwahati, from 11 to 16 June. The sessions focused on match simulations and preparing for conditions in Namibia, where winter weather may influence playing conditions.

Led by young batter Danish Das, the squad will play under the supervision of coach Subhrajit Saikia, who currently oversees the Assam Under-19 cricket team. The upcoming matches form a key part of the team’s pre-season schedule.

This is Assam’s first international tour against a national side. On a previous visit to Namibia in 2018, the team played against club-level opposition. The current tour, however, involves official fixtures against the Namibian men’s national team, making it a significant step in the team’s development.
