The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 9:40 p.m. EST on Friday for dense fog until Saturday at 4 a.m. EST for Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Leelanau, Antrim, Otsego, Montmorency, Alpena, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon, Ogemaw, Iosco, Gladwin, Arenac, Chippewa, Mackinac and Charlevoix counties.
“Fog, locally dense, will impact portions of northern lower and eastern upper Michigan tonight. Visibilities will be reduced down to or below one-half mile at times. Travelers may need extra time to reach their destination tonight. Slow down, and leave extra space between yourself and the vehicle in front of you,” according to the weather service.
