One person dead after house fire in central Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Fire & Rescue said one person has died after a house fire at 11th and Van Dorn Streets Friday morning.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said two people lived at the home. They are still searching for the other person who lived there.

The call came in at 4:09 a.m.

Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the home from Channel 8’s tower camera.

LFR spokeswoman MJ Lierman said there were “severe hoarding conditions” inside the home which is slowing down the investigation. LFR firefighters are having a hard time getting inside the home since the first floor is compromised, according to Lierman.

LFR said to avoid Van Dorn between 10th and 17th Streets as crews work and investigate this fire.

This is a developing story. Channel 8 will provide updates as we receive them.
