1200 soms for every child under 3: President Japarov introduces new state allowance

AKIPRESS.COM – On the eve of International Women’s Day marked on March 8, President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree introducing a new monthly state allowance for all children under three years old, called “Bala Yrysy”.

Payments will start on July 1, 2026, the presidential press service said.

Each child under three will receive 1200 soms per month, regardless of the family’s income level.

The head of state said the decision responds to numerous citizens’ requests and is aimed at supporting families during the most critical period of a child’s development.

“Today, by decree, I instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to introduce the new allowance ‘Bala Yrysy.’ We know every child is born with their own yrysy – their own happiness and blessing.
Some may say there could be abuse, but I believe it is better for the state to give a few extra allowances than for even one truly needy child to go without support and nutrition.
I am building a Kyrgyzstan where no child is left behind or unnoticed. Everything we do is for our children and the future of Kyrgyzstan. I am confident that the ongoing economic growth will, in the coming years, not only overcome poverty but ensure a decent life for every citizen of Kyrgyzstan,” the head of state says.

The new social support measure aims to reduce child poverty and provide guaranteed assistance to families during the most important period of a child’s development. According to the National Statistics Committee, about 445,000 children under three live in Kyrgyzstan.
