HELSINKI / UPDATED 12:00
The area affected by the electrical fault that occurred in Helsinki this morning has been limited to a small section and no longer affects train traffic, notes Finntraffic before noon on Thursday.
The fault will be repaired tonight.
According to Finntraffic, there are still delays in train traffic at the moment, but “it will return to normal within the next few hours.”
An electrical fault disrupted local train services, especially in the capital region.
Damage to the electrical system at the Helsinki Central Station, as noted by Finntraffic, had a widespread impact on both local and long-distance train services.
The outage had affected multiple tracks and caused significant disruption.
On Thursday morning, VR canceled several local trains due to the situation, and long-distance trains had also experienced delays.
Finntraffic noted that the affected area had then been limited to a single track, but the disruption area might have expanded during repair work.
And it did.
