Andy Dick has ‘5 to 7 holes’ in his brain after L.A. overdose

Comedian Andy Dick is opening up about the apparent near-fatal crack cocaine overdose he suffered on a bustling Los Angeles street late last year.

The 59-year-old funnyman revealed on the “Howie Mandel Does Stuff” podcast Tuesday that his heart did in fact stop beating during the incident on Dec. 9, 2025. He said that he does not really remember much about it, but that he was told he stopped breathing and that he was turning “purple.”

Dick said the only thing he did recall was “waking up in the ambulance.” He added that “there were no bright lights.”

In wake of the incident, Dick said doctors performed a brain scan, which revealed  “about five to seven holes” in his brain, affecting his memory.

The “NewsRadio” star, who was born Andrew Thomlinson, has long been transparent about his struggles with addiction. His sit-down with Mandel comes some three months after he was recorded slumped over and unresponsive in the Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles. The clips show him wearing a brown jacket, Crocs and pajama pants, while his signature glasses are on the ground in front of him, alongside an open canned beverage.

Several passersby reportedly tried to help, including someone who administered Narcan — an opioid overdose reversal drug — and successfully revived him.

Since then, Dick has been staying in a sober living community where he’s “not allowed” to use any substances whatsoever.

“They drug test you,” he said. “I’m not high. I don’t take pills. I don’t do anything except coffee.”

Dick, the father of three adult children with a third grandchild on the way, added that he is doing his best to stay sober and healthy for his family.

“I have to, buddy. I just have to,” he told Mandel. “Do you know how hard it is for me?”
