Homes for the Elderly in Upolu and Savaii Receive $100,000 each under Government’s Social Wellbeing Support Programme

3 March 2026. Hon Minister Signs Social Wellbeing Support Agreements for Elderly Care Services. The Honourable Minister for Women, Community and Social Development, Hon Moefaauouo Julius Ah Kui Tafuna’i has this week signed two Social Wellbeing Support Agreements to strengthen institutional care services for the elderly under the Government’s Social Wellbeing Support Programme.

The agreements provide:

• SAT $100,000 to Mapuifagalele Home for the Aged to support daily operational needs and essential care services for elderly residents.

• SAT $100,000 to Mapuipulotu to assist with furniture and facility support, enhancing living conditions and comfort for elderly persons in care.

The Honourable Minister emphasised that caring for senior citizens is both a cultural and national responsibility.

“Our elders are the foundation of our families and communities. Supporting institutions that provide them with dignity, safety, and daily care is not optional, it is our duty,” the Minister stated.

These agreements reflect Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening partnerships with faith based and community organisations that deliver frontline care to vulnerable elderly citizens.

The Ministry will continue to monitor implementation to ensure accountability and meaningful impact for beneficiaries.
