NOTABLE

• Arkansas coach John Calipari, speaking on his weekly ‘Live with Coach Cal’ radio show on Monday, complimented Texas coach Sean Miller and Missouri coach Dennis Gates by saying they could be SEC Co-Coaches of the Year. The Razorbacks face Missouri on Saturday. Calipari said that because of how both teams have turned their seasons around after struggling in the early part of the year.

• The Longhorns are thought to be on the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble because of some impressive wins on their resume. However, their 11 losses could cause concern because of a higher loss volume than other teams competing for at-large berths. Texas has lost two of its previous three games heading into Wednesday.

• Texas guard Tramon Mark is in his second season with the Longhorns after deciding to stay after Texas fired coach Rodney Terry after last season. Mark played for Arkansas in the 2023-24 season and was an impactful player during the final year of former coach Eric Musselman’s tenure.

• Calipari, speaking on his weekly radio show, said freshman guards Darius Acuff and Meleek Thomas had both been in walking boots in recent days. Acuff and Thomas lead Arkansas in scoring at 22 and 15 points per game, respectively. Acuff is considered to be the favorite to win SEC Freshman of the Year and a candidate for the league’s most valuable player.

• Arkansas is in third place in the SEC and can no longer compete for a share of the regular-season title after its loss to first-place Florida, which clinched at least a share of the championship, on Saturday. The Razorbacks are one game behind Alabama in second and three behind the Gators. The top four seeds get a double-bye in the SEC Tournament in Nashville.

• Sean Miller is in his first season at Texas, taking the job after three years in his second stint with Xavier. He took the job after defeating the Longhorns in the First Four of last season’s NCAA Tournament with the Musketeers.

• Arkansas is ranked No. 20 in the AP Top 25 for the third consecutive week. Texas has not been ranked this season but has been among other teams receiving votes at different points of the season.

• The Razorbacks are rated No. 20 by KenPom. The Longhorns are No. 29.
