State police are investigating a head-on collision in Westbrook on Wednesday morning that left one driver dead and a second driver injured.
Troopers responded to a crash on Essex Road in Westbrook around 6:27 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Connecticut State Police.
Troopers learned that a Nissan Ultima, driven by 63-year-old Robert Jones of Chester, was traveling northbound on Essex Road as a Jeep Wagoneer, driven by a 32-year-old man from Orlando, Florida, was traveling southbound. The two vehicles collided in a head-on collision for an unknown reason, state police said.
Jones was transported to Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook, where he was later pronounced dead, according to state police. The Jeep driver was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with minor injuries.
State police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
