In the wake of the Israel-U.S. and Iran conflict intensifying in West Asia, Kerala has postponed the SSLC (Class 10) examinations to be held on March 5 and the higher secondary (Class 12 or Plus 2) examinations to be held on March 5, 6, and 7 in the West Asia region, State Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said.

Addressing a press conference on Monday (March 2, 2026), the Minister said there was “uncertainty” about the conduct of the public examinations for students in the Gulf region.

The new examination dates will be announced later.

The Minister said some students in the Gulf region as well in Kerala had expressed apprehensions that they would not be able to reach the examination centres to sit for the examinations. Such students should immediately submit an application to the Director of General Education through their head teacher/principal without delay. The General Education department would take a favourable decision on the basis of the merit of the application, the Minister said.

He stressed that the department would stand with the students on the matter.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) too had postponed the class 10 and 12 board exams scheduled for March 2 in the West Asia region and announced a review of the situation with regard to examinations scheduled from March 5 onwards.
