Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke with his Iranian counterpart and six other regional foreign ministers on Saturday as Turkey pushed for steps to end the strikes on Iran, Turkish state broadcaster TRT reported.
Fidan also had calls with the foreign ministers of Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Syria, Egypt and Indonesia and discussed possible measures aimed at stopping the escalation.
The contacts came as the United States and Israel carried out strikes on Iran, prompting retaliatory attacks launched by Iran and raising the risk of a wider conflict across the Middle East.
Turkey, a NATO member that borders Iran, has said it opposes military action against Iran and urged diplomacy as tensions rose.
