Grand jurors indicted a man accused of striking a 2-year-old in a stroller and the child’s mother with his car, leaving them with life-threatening injuries, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Gavin Caci, 28, was indicted on counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, reckless driving resulting in death or substantial bodily harm and duty to stop at scene of a crash involving death or personal injury.
The crash occurred at about 7:35 p.m. Feb. 8 near East Harmon Avenue and Audrie Street, an intersection close to the Strip.
The victims, who were visiting from the United Kingdom, were taken to University Medical Center and diagnosed with brain bleeding. The child also suffered a skull fracture and broken femur and the mother was left unable to walk, according to prosecutors.
According to UMC, the victims have since been discharged.
Caci’s blood alcohol content was .22 percent, nearly three times the legal limit, prosecutors previously indicated.
