Republican lawmakers and allies of Donald Trump appeared to compete Tuesday night to see who could lavish the most praise on the president following his State of the Union address.
Trump’s lie-packed speech — which, at approximately one hour and 48 minutes, is now the longest State of the Union on record — was hailed by figures on the political right as “impeccable,” a “MASTERCLASS,” “powerful” and “Trump at his absolute finest.”
Some Trump loyalists said it had been an “honor” to be in attendance.
Others declared his remarks had filled them with pride.
Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, meanwhile, wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “When future historians want to understand how Trump dominated American politics for 12 years, they should watch and read this speech.”
On Ingraham’s prime-time show, she suggested it “could’ve been the best speech he has ever delivered.”
“I’m interested to see perhaps a little bump in the polls,” she added. “But, regardless, any historian who is writing about this presidency has to watch this speech tonight and read it carefully because this to me is one of the best speeches as a State of the Union I’ve heard in probably 20 years.”
Trump’s critics, however, vehemently disagreed with the takes.
Leaving tonight’s State of the Union address filled with pride after so many different Americans were honored by @POTUS. The incredible stories of ordinary Americans are what make our nation extraordinary.

This speech was Trump at his absolute finest and may have been his best speech yet — he’s definitely given some bangers over the years though. Exactly the right tone and message he needed ahead of the midterms.

Moment of the night: when @POTUS challenged Congress to “stand if you agree the first duty of government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.” The contrast was clear.
President Trump is an America First fighter, and a fearless patriot. Proud to call him a friend.

THANK GOD TRUMP WON, folks!
If the DEMS had kept the keys, they’d have driven this country to the brink of no return in a rusted-out Prius, windows down, screaming “defund the brakes!” while Kamala tried to parallel-park into Venezuela and Biden napped in the backseat with the…
