The Suðurnes and capital region police departments have asked the public to limit unnecessary risk today, February 25, as snowfall is expected in the region. Winter road conditions are expected, and people are urged to monitor weather forecasts and traffic information

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (Vegagerðin) has also warned about challenging road conditions in the capital area.

According to the police announcements, there is uncertainty which parts of the area will be hit the most and when. The newest predictions assume difficult conditions on Reykjanesbraut, upper parts of the capital area, and Hellisheiði pass between 14:00-19:00.

Travellers can consult the SafeTravel information page, operated in collaboration with Vegagerðin and the Icelandic Met Office.
