Uzbek citizen honored with medal of courage after saving falling child in St. Petersburg
AKIPRESS.COM – President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree awarding the “Zhasorat” (Courage) medal to Khairullo Ibadullaev for his heroic rescue of a young child in St. Petersburg.
The president’s spokesperson, Sherzod Asadov, noted that by risking his own life and health, Ibadullaev demonstrated the bravery and selflessness inherent to the Uzbek people. The award recognizes his immediate and decisive action during a life-threatening emergency involving a six-year-old boy.
The incident occurred on February 22 when the child fell from the seventh floor of an apartment building while his mother was in another room. Ibadullaev, who was working as a groundskeeper in the area, managed to catch the boy, significantly breaking his fall. He provided initial aid and remained with the child until medical personnel arrived. As a result of the impact, Ibadullaev reportedly suffered broken ribs, while the boy sustained a leg fracture but survived. Ibadullaev had moved to St. Petersburg only four months ago to support his family, including four children and his elderly parents back in Uzbekistan.
