Flora Jean’s, the vegetarian/vegan restaurant at 433 E. Third St., on the edge of in Little Rock’s River Market District, is set to close sometime in March.

The owners, sisters Helen Grace and Leila King and their sister-in-law, Kamiya King, announced in a Wednesday post on Facebook: “After 4.5 incredible and beautiful years, we have decided to close Flora Jean’s.

“We are beyond proud of everything we have created and accomplished. We unearthed the earth. We chased blooms. We picked berries and grew greens in our jeans. We chased storms and we ate the rainbow. We lived, we laughed, we loved. We nourished. We flourished. There is truly nothing like her.

“Now it’s time for our next adventure. For this is not an end, but an evolution.”

The three also own @ the Corner, 201 E. Markham St. at Scott Street in Little Rock. A third project, Cafe Plain Jane, a French-Southern fusion cafe in the space formerly occupied by Cañon Grill, 2811 Kavanaugh Blvd., in Little Rock’s Hillcrest, has reportedly fallen through.

Flora Jean’s will go out with a final supper series, March 6, 7, 13 and 14, with a limited number of $125 tickets (including wine pairings).

The restaurant, originally to have been named Henrietta’s, opened in January 2023 after a delay of more than three years in a space at the corner of Third Street and River Market Avenue that had been previously occupied by Andina Cafe.

In the process, disrupted by the covid-19 pandemic, the concept also changed as well, though it remained in keeping with Lila King’s original idea of it being “health-centric,” with a menu and cocktail program aimed at promoting a “healthy lifestyle.” Except where it is vegan, the menu has been almost entirely ovo-vegetarian, in that some dishes contain eggs.
