New Roads Lion Club reveals Carnival parade king and queen | Mardi Gras

Thomas Joseph Guidry and Carrie Reese Morrison reigned as king and queen of the 82nd annual New Roads Lions Club Mardi Gras parade on Tuesday.

Guidry is a 1985 graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School, Houma, and LSU, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in finance. He is the facilities director for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, a position he’s held for the last 10 years.

He has been a member of the New Roads Lions Club since 1999, serving on its board of directors in various positions for several years, including as president in 2013. He’s also served on the Catholic of Pointe Coupee School Board, St. Mary of False River Catholic Church building and grounds committee and the St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus. He now serves on the Pointe Coupee Parish Waterworks board of directors.

The king is married to Paula Bonaventure Guidry and has two children, Jake and Jenna.

Queen Morrison is a lifelong resident of New Roads and also a member of St. Mary of False River. She is a graduate of Catholic High School of Pointe Coupee and was the class of 2021’s valedictorian.

Morrison attended LSU, graduating summa cum laude in May 2025 with a bachelor of science in psychology and a minor in history. She was awarded the University Medal at graduation. Morrison is currently in her second semester at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at LSU.

The queen is the daughter of Lions Club member Mark and Faye Morrison.

This year’s Lions Club royalty also included Duke Alexander Thomas Beatty and Duchess Emily Rose Bonaventure.
