Tiofilusi Tongamoa, who escaped custody on Jan. 17 after allegedly assaulting his wife inside their Aiea residence in front of their children, who were under 14, was arrested at 3 p.m. Monday and taken into custody at the main police station at 801 S. Beretania St.

Tongamoa, 37, earlier had been placed under arrest and handcuffed by arriving officers on Jan. 17 for alleged felony abuse of a family/household member. But after being handcuffed, he pulled away from the officers and escaped custody by fleeing on foot in an unknown direction.
