A golden chapter was added to the sports history of Udham Singh Nagar district on Friday. A state-of-the-art, 8-lane, 400-meter, state-of-the-art synthetic track, conforming to international standards, has been completed at the Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium in Rudrapur at a cost of ₹15.72 crore (157.2 million rupees). This track will not only provide world-class facilities to athletes but will also establish Uttarakhand on the national and international sports map.
Udham Singh Nagar gets its first international synthetic track
This state-of-the-art synthetic track, built in the Rudrapur headquarters of Udham Singh Nagar, has a 400-meter length and has been developed in accordance with international standards. The marking and testing of the track was carried out by a Russian expert team to ensure its quality and technical standards are at par with global standards.
This 8-lane track will now allow athletes from across the state to practice in a professional environment. Training on the synthetic track will improve players’ performance, reduce the risk of injury, and enhance their competitive ability.
Previously, athletes from the state had to travel to other states, or capital Dehradun, for high-level training, which resulted in additional costs of time and resources. Now, athletes from Udham Singh Nagar and surrounding districts will have access to modern facilities within their own area. This will provide equal opportunities to talented players from rural and urban areas.
Badminton Indoor Hall to be inaugurated soon
It is reported that the badminton indoor hall built within the stadium complex will also be inaugurated soon. Approximately ₹3 crore has been spent on the renovation of this hall. This will provide badminton players with better practice and facilitate the holding of competitions.
