Unknown assailants shot a man near Tibetan Market in Dehradun today, February 11. Police rushed the injured man to Doon Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased has been identified as Arjun Sharma, a resident of Indira Nagar, Vasant Vihar Dehradun. Sharma was reported to be the owner of a gas agency on GMS Road.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area and began investigating. Senior police officers subsequently inspected the scene and gathered information from officials.
An atmosphere of panic grips the area following the incident.
Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the deceased was involved in a dispute regarding his family business and financial transactions. It is reported that due to this dispute, his mother had already sought protection from the High Court, citing threats to her son’s life.
According to eyewitnesses and initial investigations, two assailants on a scooter carried out the attack and fled the scene. The incident has created an atmosphere of panic in the area. On the instructions of the Dehradun SSP, separate teams have been formed to arrest the accused. Intensive checking is also being conducted throughout the district. Police say that the case is being thoroughly investigated, taking all aspects into account, and the accused will be arrested soon.
Four murders in Dehradun district within two weeks
The murder of a 40-year-old man in Tibetan Market marks the fourth murder in Dehradun district within two weeks. Three of these murders involved women. A student was murdered in the Vikasnagar area on January 29th. A woman was shot dead in Rishikesh on January 31st. Then, on February 2nd, a young woman was murdered in Dehradun’s Machhi Bazaar. These incidents openly challenged the police security system in Dehradun.
