“Louisiana was the last state to ban the blood sport of cockfighting in 2008.”

“Sunset Pit, in St. Landry Parish, could fill the 600-seat arena, and every hotel room, with people from all over the world.” “It brings in a lot of money.” “This is all about trying to find revenue for the parish.” “Sunset was known as the cockfighting capitol of the world.”

“Cockfighting is a violent bloodsport, forcing birds to fight to the death for the entertainment and financial gain of those involved in this cruel industry.”

There is now renewed interest in bringing this violent bloodsport back. There is no inch of U.S. soil where this is legal. Louisiana, we don’t want the distinction of being the first state to try to bring this back.
