NEW DELHI: A three-storey building collapsed in Rajasthan’s Kota on Saturday, leaving at least two people dead and several others feared trapped under the debris. Rajasthan minister Madan Dilawar confirmed the casualties to news agency PTI. The incident took place in the Talwandi area, where a restaurant was operating inside the building.Calling it a “very major incident,” Rajasthan minister Madan Dilawar said two deaths have been reported so far in the three-storey building collapse in Kota. He said nine people were taken to the Medical College hospital, of whom four remain admitted, while three to four others either shifted to private hospitals or returned home. Dilawar added that an investigation is underway and rescue and relief operations are continuing at the site.Police and rescue teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and began rescue work immediately. Officials said five people have been rescued so far and taken to a hospital for treatment.According to initial information, both customers and employees were inside the restaurant when the building collapsed.Local MLA Sandeep Sharma, who visited the site after the incident, said, “There is a possibility that several people are trapped. The police and administration reached the site promptly, and rescue operations are underway. Some people have been pulled out,” he said.More details awaited.
