The initiative, promoted by Culturgest in partnership with the Lagos Cultural Centre and the Torres Vedras Theatre-Cinema, provides participants with direct access to the repertoire of Portuguese contemporary dance through creative processes led by renowned choreographers and performers.
This edition focuses on the work of Rui Horta, one of the most important figures in national contemporary dance, who leads the project in collaboration with Teresa Alves da Silva, Bruno Duarte, and Margarida Belo Costa. Throughout the course, young people will develop techniques for interpretation, choreographic creation, and professional methodologies in an intergenerational learning environment.
The process runs from February through the end of May and involves three groups of participants in Lisbon, Torres Vedras, and Lagos. Each group will recreate excerpts from different works by Rui Horta, converging into a collective creation presented publicly, bringing together participants from the three cities.
In Lagos, the selection workshops will take place on 8 February at 2:00 pm at the Lagos Cultural Centre. Participation in the workshops is open to all interested parties, with final selection dependent on the limited number of places available. Registration should be done via email at ccl.educativo@cm-lagos.pt
The P.E.D.R.A. project is conceived as a platform for artistic training and direct contact with contemporary Portuguese choreographic heritage, promoting the technical, creative, and critical development of young performers.
