Station commanders complete leadership workshop

The Royal Eswatini Police Service concluded its 2026 Station Commanders’ Workshop on Friday at Matsapha Police Academy. The training focused on strengthening leadership at the station level to improve policing across the Kingdom.

Senior Deputy National Commissioner of Police, Mr Melusi S. Simelane, represented the National Commissioner and addressed the participants. He told the commanders, “It is at the police station where policy becomes practice, where strategy becomes action, and where the public forms its daily opinion about the Service. As Station Commanders, you are the custodians of grassroots policing and you are responsible for what happens in villages, communities, towns and business centres.”

Simelane also commended the commanders for their performance during the festive season and national duties, noting that they worked long hours under intense pressure while remaining professional, disciplined, and focused. “Despite the challenges, you ensured safety, order, and stability across the country, which was a clear indication that the police service can be relied upon,” he said.

The Senior DNCP added that the workshop is expected to improve discipline at stations, reduce complaints against police, enhance the quality of dockets and investigations, strengthen visible sector policing, and build stronger partnerships with communities.
