He will continue in the Touring Car category at the wheel of a Hyundai Elantra N TCR prepared by the JT59 Racing Team. The driver from Murça is returning to a championship in which he has been a regular participant.
Teixeira has been a key driver in the championship, competing first with SEAT and Cupra cars and, since 2024, with Hyundai. With the Elantra N TCR, he has remained one of the strongest and most consistent drivers in the category.
The four-time Iberian Supercars champion and three-time Portuguese Touring Car champion is working to continue his presence in the series, with the introduction of split grids playing a key role in his decision to stay. The driver believes that “this measure is an extra motivation to remain in what I consider to be the best circuit racing championship on the Iberian Peninsula,” highlighting that the grid separation “allows us to offer twice the spectacle to the fans and greatly reduces the chances of Safety Car interventions, something that would be almost unavoidable with more than forty cars on track.”
Teixeira also adds that this change will have a direct impact on sporting competitiveness, as it will make it easier to achieve clean qualifying laps, something that “has proved very difficult in the past.” He hopes the measure will be applied throughout the championship, including the Vila Real round, and expects the solution to be used consistently across the season, even at the street circuit in Vila Real.
After winning the Portuguese Speed Championship and the Iberian Supercars titles in recent seasons, the focus for 2026 is clearly defined. “Having won both championships in the Touring Car category over the past few years, the goal has to be to fight for both titles again,” the driver admits, while not ruling out broader ambitions on the Iberian stage.
“There is also the possibility of trying to challenge for the Supercars Spain Touring Car title, something we have never done before, as we did not take part in the Jarama and Valencia rounds,” he explained, leaving the door open to an even more ambitious programme.
The 2026 Supercars Endurance season gets underway at the Algarve International Circuit from 15 to 17 May, with the official pre-season test scheduled for 21 March at the Estoril Circuit.
