MINOT, N.D. (Hi-Lites) – The Valley City Hi-Lites dance team traveled to the Minot State University Dome on January
30–31 to compete in the North Dakota Association of Dance and Drill State Competition. Facing strong competition from across the state, the Hi-Lites delivered an impressive showing, advancing to finals in all three of their routines: Jazz, High Kick, and Hip Hop.
The team earned several top finishes, bringing home second place in Varsity Hip Hop, third place in Class A Large Varsity Kick, and fourth place in Varsity Jazz. Their performances highlighted the team’s dedication, precision, and hard work throughout the season.
In addition to their competitive success, the Hi-Lites were also recognized for their achievements in the classroom. The team received the Team Academic Award, honoring teams with a combined grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
Several Hi-Lites dancers also competed in the solo division with strong results. Hailley Grenz placed sixth, followed by Addy Chase in 12th, Ava Shanenko in 13th, Claire Shanenko in 14th, and Paige Tulp in 15th place.
The Hi-Lites will conclude their season this week as they travel to DTU Nationals, where they will perform their Hip Hop and High Kick routines one final time this season.
