Two young men who disappeared earlier this week while traveling between Caribbean islands have reached out to their family, according to police in Sint Maarten.

The brothers, who had journeyed from Antigua to Sint Maarten, went missing several days ago, prompting their family to alert authorities and sparking a search effort by the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM).

Their mother received word from her sons on Friday morning, when KPSM detectives interviewed her about the case. She told police the brothers are safe and explained their absence: their boat suffered mechanical failure during the voyage, leaving them stranded in waters between Antigua and Barbuda.

The news ends days of uncertainty for the family and community members who had grown increasingly worried about the brothers’ fate. KPSM had appealed to the public earlier in the week, asking anyone with information about the missing men to come forward.

Despite the family contact, police say the situation requires further investigation. KPSM officers are now working with law enforcement and maritime agencies across the Caribbean region to confirm where exactly the brothers are located and ensure their safety.

Police continue to ask anyone with relevant information to call the Philipsburg Police Station at +1 (721) 542-2222 or use the anonymous tip line at 9300.
