Australia Day marked in Majuro

The Australian Embassy in Majuro hosted its annual Australia Day function this past Friday at the Marshall Islands Resort.

The event was attended by traditional leaders, President Hilda C. Heine, First Gentleman Tommy Kijiner, members of the Cabinet, the Nitijela, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps, Australians and friends of the Australian Embassy.

Following speeches, guests enjoyed a cultural program, with food and entertainment, including Vegemite toast, kangaroo jerky, beetroot-infused beef burgers and lemon-myrtle tuna skewer and performances led by Second Secretary Kallan Phillips with Terri Komwenga and Isimeli Raqio, who performed Australian, Marshallese, and Fijian songs.
