The wind chill will get down to the single digits for parts of Hampton Roads this week and weekend snow again is a possibility.

From Tuesday to Thursday night, southeastern Virginia is expected to see frigid temperatures which will prolong the impacts of any lingering snow, ice or black ice from last weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Weather data shows Norfolk is expected to see wind chills as low as 10 degrees on Wednesday night, and hover just above that Tuesday night and Thursday, while Williamsburg will see wind chills as low as 5-6 degrees this week.

Saturday and Sunday, South Hampton Roads has a 40% chance of at least moderate impacts from snow, while further north and west has a 30% chance, according to the weather service. It’s still too early to predict how much snow will fall as of Tuesday afternoon.

There’s a chance of snow Wednesday night on the Eastern Shore, though it’s not clear how much. Mathews, Northampton, Accomack, and Gloucester counties are under a cold weather advisory until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

While it will be very cold this week, experts are warning the public to not walk on frozen bodies of water because it’s not cold enough to create ice that can support the average person’s body weight.
