In the last few weeks:
— President Donald Trump ordered the invasion of a foreign, sovereign country and removed its leader.
— Trump threatened to annex Greenland “the easy way or the hard way.”
— The Trump administration, specifically Marco Rubio, threatened Cuba, Mexico and Col-mbia with “you could be next” comments.
— President Trump threatened Iran for its crackdown on Iranian citizens protesting
— Vice President JD Vance has said ICE has “absolute immunity.”
— Our Department of Defense announced a “censure” of senator, former U.S. Navy Commander Mark Kelly and a process to reduce him in rank and reduce his military retirement pay over his participation in a video reminding military members that they are not required to obey unlawful orders.
— The Department of Justice has started an investigation into the chairman of the Federal Reserve Jerome Powell over his refusal to bend to the demands of President Trump to lower interest rates.
— In an interview, Trump said the civil rights movement was “reverse discrimination” and was “bad for a lot of White people.”
— Trump has threatened a U.S. state — Minnesota — with a day of “reckoning and retribution” for its protests against ICE.
In normal times, any single one of these events or statements would be an outrage on its own merits. But we are not in a normal time. Democrats are powerless at this moment. At what point will a man of courage among Republicans stand up?
