Marshall “Mark” Partlow Sr.

A Celebration of Life for Marshall “Mark” Partlow Sr., 81, will be held Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. in Pisgah Methodist Church with the Rev. Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating.

Mr. Mark passed away Jan. 19 following an extended illness on at MUSC Medical Center.

Born Feb. 9, 1944, he was a son of the late Henry and Jane Seale Partlow. In addition to his parents, Mark was predeceased by his first wife, Linda Darlene Partlow; one son, Marshall Partlow Jr.; one stepgrandson, Bradley Squires; three brothers, Charles Partlow, Douglas Partlow and Henry Partlow Jr.; and two sisters, Nancy Ellen Richardson and Thelma Sanger.

Mr. Mark was a U.S. Army veteran, an avid golfer and a rummy player. He was employed with Sun Oil Company, where he retired as the Refinery Fire Marshall. He was a life active member for 56 years with the Claymont, Delaware Volunteer Fire Department, serving on various boards.

Currently, Mr. Mark is a member of Pisgah Methodist Church, where he was a former president of the men’s group. He will be remembered as a jack of all trades, a sports enthusiast and a diner with a love for going out to eat at various restaurants, especially Websters and Dry Dock. Mark, lovingly known as Papa Mark, truly lived life to the fullest. He was always on the move and never short on a project, especially if it involved his grandbabies, whom he adored. If he wasn’t on the golf course, you could find him in the yard or happily working away in his garage. Mark didn’t believe in sleeping in or going to bed early.

There was simply too much life to enjoy. His sense of humor was one of his best traits. He could make a friend out of a stranger and leave everyone smiling. He loved his family fiercely, took great pride in his silver hair and would do anything for anyone. Papa Mark showed his love everyday by fighting hard for the people who meant the most to him.

Mark was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and is survived by his wife, Mary Squires-Partlow; one daughter, Michele DiOrio (Rob); one stepson, Dean Squires (Renee); two stepdaughters, Kim Clark (Mike) and Danielle West (Brian); one granddaughter, Nicole DiOrio; seven stepgrandchildren, Kasey Hucks (Jason), Lindsey Bunker (Adam), Codey Squires (Brooke), April Windham (Jonathan), Katie Merritt (Luke), Emory West (Sarah) and Mary Ashley West; nine stepgreat-grandchildren, Blaise, Cayden, Adiline, Braylee, Owen, Gracelyn, Bentley, Clark and Libby Jo; two brothers, Bobby Partlow (Lisa) and Johnny Partlow; one sister, Linda Markland; and his beloved dogs, Annie, Babygirl and Zoie.
