AKIPRESS.COM – Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev participated and delivered speech in the Global Tourism Forum Davos 2026, which took place at the Euronews Hub in Davos and was organized by the World Tourism Forum Institute in cooperation with the Euronews. Convening during the World Economic Forum Week, the forum served as a sovereign-level platform dedicated to the intersection of geopolitics, economic security, and the future of the global travel economy.
During his remarks Secretary General Omuraliev shared the OTS’s strategic vision for tourism and cultural cooperation, while emphasizing how tourism serves as a vital instrument of soft power that strengthens international trust and regional stability through enhanced mobility and people-to-people engagement.
He outlined how the Turkic region is aligning public policy with sustainable tourism objectives to strengthen national economic resilience, while also providing concrete examples of tourism initiatives implemented under the OTS framework. These included the Turkic Silk Road Initiative, as well as ongoing efforts to expand international cooperation in the field of tourism.
Within the framework of the event the Secretary General met with other high-level participants of the forum, as well as gave an interview to Euronews. During the meetings and interview Ambassador Omuraliev highlighted the Turkic region’s growing economic potential and vast cooperation opportunities in the field of tourism. He stated that Turkic region stretching from Anatolia to Central Asia, from the Caspian to the Altai, lies at the intersection of civilizations, trade routes, and cultural exchange. In this context, it was noted that Turkic States attracts nearly 100 million international tourists, marking a historic milestone for our community.
The Forum featured high-level contributions from global leaders, including addresses by Gombojavyn Zandanshatar, Prime Minister of Mongolia, and Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Euronews, Ministers and high-level representatives of various countries, as well as representatives of the private sector. The Forum participants discussed tourism as a pillar of national economic resilience and state leadership in global governance. The program also included a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Dialogue and a Sustainability Alliances Leadership Roundtable focused on scaling climate resilience and net-zero delivery within the hospitality sector.
The proceedings were broadcasted globally via Euronews, the Forum’s strategic media partner, ensuring that the OTS’s leadership and strategic vision received high-level visibility during the world’s most influential policymaking week.
