According to idealista, Portugal is the 7th-largest country in the European Union (EU) in terms of renewable energy consumption, with 36.3% of its energy coming from these sources. Thus, Portugal is above the European average (25.2%).
In 2024, the EU reported that 25.2% of energy consumption came from renewable sources, up 0.7% from 2023. However, the recorded value remains below the target set for 2030.
According to Eurostat, Sweden is the country that uses the most renewable energy (62.8%), followed by Finland and Denmark.
Portugal is still included in the top 10, occupying the seventh position, far from the European average but even further from the target of 42.5%.
