Central Equatoria governor sends security team to Wonduruba after cattle raid

The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Emmanuel, has dispatched a security team led by his security advisor to Wonduruba Administrative Payam following a rise in insecurity.

According to a statement from the governor’s office, the team, headed by Angelo Daya, the state security advisor, will investigate a cattle-related conflict that occurred in Mankaro village of Wonduruba Administrative Payam in recent days.

The incident reportedly left a number of people injured or killed and involved the raiding of a large number of cattle by suspected raiders from Bor County in Jonglei State. Authorities in Bor County have not responded to the allegations.

The statement added that the governor has directed the security team to carry out a thorough investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable.

Governor Adil also called for calm, saying the state government is taking strong and coordinated measures to restore peace and tranquillity in the area.
