‘Extreme flooding’ shuts down portion of NB, SB I-75 in Genesee County

UPDATE: All lanes have been reopened, according to MDOT.

GENESEE COUNTY, MI — A portion of northbound and southbound Interstate 75 in Genesee County is closed following an all-day rain on Sunday, Dec. 28.

The road closure was announced by Genesee County 911.

“Be advised Northbound and Southbound I-75 is closed entirely between Miller Road and Corunna Road due to extreme flooding,” a post on Genesee County 911’s Facebook page reads. “Use a different route of travel until further notice.”

The Genesee County 911 website notes a pump failure has taken place in the area of the flooding.

Flooding is also being reported on the 911 page at Homestead and Natalie drives in Burton, the 8900 block of Championship Drive in Davison Township where a plug is drained, as well as water coming into some homes in Grand Blanc and Genesee Township.
