The Good News Brings Great Joy

DO NOT BE AFRAID

Luke 2:10 “But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.”

“Do not be afraid.” These words were spoken to ordinary shepherds, men living on the margins, surrounded by darkness and uncertainty. Before the angel announced joy, God addressed fear—because fear is often the greatest barrier to receiving His grace.

Christmas begins with GOOD NEWS, not good advice. The message of the angel wasn’t about what the shepherds must do, but about WHAT GOD WAS DOING. A Saviour had been born. Hope had entered the world.

This good news brings great joy—not the kind that fades with circumstances, but the joy that comes from knowing God has drawn near. Joy rooted in forgiveness. Joy grounded in promise. Joy that shines even in darkness.

And this message is for all people. Not just the religious. Not just the strong. Not just the successful. The good news of Christmas is for the weary, the forgotten, the broken, and the overlooked. The shepherds stand as living proof that no one is too far, too small, or too unworthy to receive God’s grace.

On this Christmas Eve, we are invited to lay down our fears and receive heaven’s announcement again:
Christ has come. Hope is here. Joy is possible.

Prayer:
Father, as I prepare my heart to celebrate the first coming and birth of your Son, quiet my fears. Help me to receive the good news—the gospel—with great joy and simple faith. Prepare me to behold the depth of Your love revealed in Jesus. In His name, I pray. Amen.

Have a wonderful day and a blessed Christmas Eve. Lots’a love,
Warren
