The organized forces have announced the deployment of more than 10,000 security personnel to maintain law and order in the national capital during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Deputy police spokesperson Major Lith Wilson said the move followed a general assembly held on Monday to review security readiness and coordination.

In a state- TV broadcast, the meeting brought together the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces, the National Police Service, Public Security, and the Fire Brigade as part of joint efforts to ensure a safe festive season.

According to officials, over 4,000 police officers will be deployed under a comprehensive security plan that divides the capital into six security sectors. Each sector will be led by a police brigadier and supported by units from the army and other security services.

The plan includes mobile patrols, fixed security checkpoints, and rapid response teams, with additional deployments to markets, public facilities, vital installations, and areas of public gathering to protect lives and property.

The general assembly was chaired by the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Operations, General Peter Meding Duar, who also heads the Security Committee for Christmas and New Year coverage

He emphasized strict adherence to the security plan and continuous coordination among all forces, noting that similar measures will be implemented in the states and the three administrative areas.

Security authorities have also issued public directives, including a ban on carrying firearms or bladed weapons, confiscation of unlicensed arms, and a requirement for prior authorization for public events.

Celebratory gunfire and the use of fireworks during New Year celebrations are strictly prohibited.

The organized forces have called on the public to cooperate with security agencies to ensure safety and stability, wishing citizens a peaceful and secure holiday season.
