Sixth train to be inducted on Yellow Line from December 23

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that the sixth train on the Yellow Line will be inducted for passenger service from December 23, which is likely to improve service frequency during peak hours.

According to a press release issued on Monday, the addition of the sixth train will enable metro services on the Yellow Line to operate at a 13-minute frequency during peak hours from Monday to Saturday, compared to the existing 15-minute interval. However, on Sundays, the peak-hour frequency will continue to remain at 15 minutes.

The BMRCL officials said, “The enhanced frequency is expected to ease congestion and offer better convenience to commuters travelling on the Yellow Line, which connects R.V. Road and Bommasandra.”

The BMRCL clarified that there would be no change in the scheduled departure of first and last trains from either of the terminal stations, despite the induction of the additional train.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the seventh train set for Yellow Line arrived at the Hebbagodi depot in Bengaluru. It is expected to be inducted into revenue service in early January after completing mandatory inspections and safety tests, the officials said.
